Coach Mike Loyd’s Mounties continue to show improvement, as he enters his third season as head coach at Rogers High School. In 2017, the Mounties won 5 games and made another playoff appearance. The Mounties are looking forward to contending for a conference title and a deeper state playoff run.
The Rogers’ offense has six starters returning from the 2017 season. Mounties’ fans will want to keep an eye on quarterback Hunter Loyd this season. Loyd passed for 2,200 yards and 14 touchdowns last season and is looking to improve upon those numbers this season. Loyd will be the player to watch on the offensive side of the ball and is accurate enough to cause problems for opposing defenses in the 7-A West.
The Mounties’ defense will have seven starters returning from the 2017 season. The player that will catch fans attention is linebacker Nathan Hahn. Hahn is a player that likes to hit the opposing ball carrier. The Mounties’ defense should make an improvement, and this should be a team that can challenge for a playoff spot.
If the Mounties’ can get everything to click, then this will be a group that can challenge for a playoff spot. The Mounties have the potential to make a playoff run with the possibility of advancing and causing some damage.
