The Parkers Chapel Trojans have had a tough two seasons, winning only three games the past two seasons. Parkers Chapel has 12 starters returning for the 2016 season and has the potential to be a dangerous team this season. With the experience coming back on both sides of the ball, Trojans’ fans should be excited for the upcoming year.
The Parkers Chapel offense has several dynamic playmakers. Running back Dezmon Jackson rushed for 18 touchdowns and a little under 1,000 yards a year ago and has the potential to have an even stronger season this season. Jackson is a potential division 1 recruit with Arkansas, Louisiana Tech, and Louisiana-Monroe showing interest in him. The running game should be strong for the Trojans this season and give them opportunities to throw the football. The Trojans’ offense has potential to be one of the better offenses in the 8-2A Conference.
The defense for the Trojans could surprise some fans. Six starters are returning on the defensive side of the ball and this has the potential to be a solid unit. The secondary is led by Brendan Winchester at the safety position. Winchester is a hard hitter, which has a nose for the football. Wyatt Darden is a player to keep an eye on at the linebacker position. Darden was named to the all-league in 2015 and is looking for an even bigger season in 2016.
The Trojans on offense will likely lean on Dezmon Jackson for the upcoming season. If Jackson can stay healthy this has the potential to be a very good offense. The defense should be solid again this season. The conference is not an easy one for the Trojans and grabbing a playoff spot will be difficult. However, anything can happen on Friday nights, that is why teams play the game.
