Game Recap: Shiloh Christian vs. Gentry Pioneers

The Shiloh Christian Saints have been on a roll for most of the 2016 season. The Saints were looking to bounce back from a very strong Prairie Grove team against Gentry. The Gentry Pioneers made the trip to Champions Stadium looking to end a four game winless skid. Picking up a win would be important for each school and on Friday Shiloh was able to achieve that goal.

Shiloh Christian would take control early in the first quarter and set the tone for the remainder of the game. Saints running back Broc Berus would set the tone with his physical running style. Berus would power the ball into the end zone the first time with a little less than 10 minutes to go in the first quarter. Shiloh would convert on the two-point conversion to make the score 8-0. Gentry would not get anything offensively in the first quarter and Shiloh would quickly march down the field for the second touchdown of the game. Berus would strike on the ground once again with a 12-yard touchdown run to make the score 15-0 Saints. Shiloh would strike for a third time when Jaret Russ scored from 7-yards out to give the Saints a 22-0 lead going into the second quarter.

The Broc Berus show was not finished in the second quarter. Early in the second quarter Berus would take a Connor Reece pass 28-yards for a touchdown to make the score 29-0 Shiloh Christian. The Saints would finish off their scoring when Connor Reece snuck the ball in from 1-yard out to make the score 36-0 Saints. The Shiloh defense would continue to stifle the Gentry offense and the score at the half would be Shiloh 36-Gentry 0.

The second half would not see much scoring. The Saints defense continued to force turnovers and cause problems for the Pioneers. Gentry quarter Jon Faulkenberry escaped the Saints defense en route for a 53-yard touchdown run to make the score Shiloh 36-Gentry 7. The 36-7 score would also be the final score of the game. The Saints will hit the road to take on Lincoln Friday night. The schedule for Gentry does not get any easier when they play host to the Prairie Grove Tigers on Friday.
