Fayetteville Purple Dogs Preview ’18

The Fayetteville Purple Dogs were not an experienced group last season. Fayetteville did not have the deep playoff run, that Purple Dogs’ fans have grown used to. With 13 starters returning for the 2018 season, Fayetteville fans are looking for another deep playoff run, with a shot at a state championship.

Over the years, it seems Fayetteville has always had a dangerous offense, and this season should be no exception. The Purple Dogs have possibly, the most exciting quarterback in the 7-A West returning for his senior season, in Darius Bowers. Bowers had an excellent season in 2017, passing for over 3,300 yards and 34 touchdowns. With Bowers back, Fayetteville has a very good chance of contending for the 7-A West title.

On the defensive side of the ball. Fayetteville fans should look for Keondre Conley to continue to make plays along the defensive front. In 2017, Conley racked up 80 tackles and has the potential to have a big season in 2018. The defense for the Purple Dogs has the potential to cause some major trouble for opposing offenses in 7-A West. Fayetteville fans should look for the defense to have another strong season.

If the Purple Dogs can bring everything together from a team perspective, this could be another group that challenges for a state title. Fayetteville fans should look for another playoff run, with a good chance of winning a state championship.
