The most consistent team in the state of Arkansas over the past ten years has been the Bentonville Tigers. In 2017, the Tigers won the 7-A West but fell short in the state championship against North Little Rock. Bentonville finished with a 10-3 record in 2017, and as always, expectations are high coming into the 2018 season.
Running back Preston Crawford will be the player to keep an eye for Tigers’ fans. Crawford racked up almost 500 yards on the ground and tacked on 7 touchdowns. Crawford is a dangerous running back, but also a solid receiver out of the backfield. The Tigers’ offense has the potential to cause the rest of the 7-A Conference problems as the season heats up. Bentonville fans should look for another strong season on the offensive side of the ball.
The Tigers’ defense returns four players on the defensive side of the ball. Bentonville’s secondary has some impressive players patrolling the field. Ben Pankau had over 80 tackles last season and picked off three passes, in 2017. Ben Sellers will be another player to keep an eye on as the season moves toward the playoffs. The Tigers will once again make a deep playoff run, with a very good chance of winning the state championship. The season should be a bright one for the folks up in Bentonville.
