The West Memphis Blue Devils took another step in the right direction last season. The Blue Devils racked up seven wins and advanced in the playoffs last season. West Memphis finished with a record of 7-5 in 2016 and is looking to build off of that performance.
West Memphis will have six starters returning on the offensive side of the ball. A player for Blue Devils’ fans to keep and is wide receiver Steven Stone. Stone was impressive last season being on the receiving end of seven touchdown passes. Stone is an aggressive player who will throw a block for his teammates, along with make the tough reception. Fans can look for the Blue Devils to continue to have an aggressive offense this season.
The Blue Devils will have five starters returning on the defensive side of the ball. West Memphis has potential on the defensive side of the ball. The player to keep an eye on the defensive side of the ball is Donte Perry. Perry is an impressive player at the linebacker position. Perry has good speed and is solid dropping back into pass coverage. The defense should continue to be an impressive part of this team.
West Memphis has the potential to be a dangerous team, come playoff time. The Blue Devils have talent on both sides of the ball coming back and will be a difficult team to contain from the offensive side of the ball. The seven win mark is a realistic option and I would expect the Blue Devils to go on a playoff run this season. Getting some wins early in the season will be key for the Blue Devils, but this is a very solid group this season.
