’17 Season Preview: Little Rock Mills Comets

The Little Rock Mills Comets finished the 2016 season with a 3-7 record. The Comets will some experience returning, but this is mostly a young group that is ready to take some positive steps forward. Little Rock Mills has potential, now the next step is using that potential to grab a few more wins this season.

Little Rock Mills will have five starters returning on the offensive side of the ball this season. A player for Comets’ fans to keep an eye on this season on the offensive side of the ball is wide receiver Dakota Hunter. Hunter had over 200 yards receiving last season and has the potential to have an even bigger season this season. Hunter has the size at 6’2” to be a threat in the red zone and he can be a match up problem for the opposing defensive secondary. Mills has potential on the offensive side of the ball it is just sustaining drives and finding the end zone that the Comets will focus on.

The Little Rock Mills’ defense is an area that must reduce the amount of points that they are giving up per game. Little Rock Mills gave up 35 points per game last season and getting stops will be key in increasing the win total for the Comets. The player for Comets’ fans to keep an eye out for on the defensive side of the ball is Braylen Cloird. Cloird is a solid defensive end with impressive quickness and size at 6’2” 220 pounds. The Little Rock Mills’ defense will need to force three and outs and some turnovers to have a shot at increasing the win totals this season.

Little Rock Mills has a shot at improving the win total this season, but the offense and the defense will need to click early on in the season. I look for the Comets to improve but they may be a year away from contending for a playoff spot.
