Over the past five years, the Bryant Hornets have been the measure of consistency in the 7-A Central. The 2016 season was another solid one for the Hornets, with the Hornets advancing all the way to the state 7-A semi-finals before falling to North Little Rock. The Hornets will have plenty of experience on both sides of the ball returning and a deep playoff run is a possibility for very talented group this season.
The Bryant offense was an impressive one, when everything came together in. Hornets’ fans should be excited about an experienced signal caller returning to lead the offense this season. Ren Hefley passed for 1,700 yards and threw 12 touchdowns last season. Hefley has the potential to improve upon the numbers from a season ago and really put the points on the board this season. The Hornets have seven returning starters on the offensive side of the ball, so this group has the potential to be dangerous this season.
Bryant’s defense has seven starters returning for the 2017 season. The Hornets have one of the better defensive backs in the state patrolling the secondary. Cameron Vail is returning at the safety position for the Hornets. Vail racked up over 50 tackles and picked off two passes during the course of the season in 2016. With the experience the Hornets have returning, the defense has the potential to be a special group and one that could make them dangers in the playoffs.
The Hornets have the talent on both sides of the ball to be a dangerous team to contend with in the 7-A Central. The offense should be a strength and the defense has plenty of experience returning for the 2017 season. The Hornets should contend for a conference championship and they have the potential to make a playoff run if they can avoid injuries and upsets.
